The speed limit is another important variable for road users. Speed limits for trucks vary from state to state and often differ from limits set for passenger vehicles.

2Indiana and Iowa increased speed limits for both cars and trucks by 5 miles per hour beginning July 1, 2005.
3The maximum speed for trucks on the Ohio Turnpike is 65 miles per hour (mph).
4In sections of I-10 and I-20 in rural West Texas, the speed limit for passenger cars and light trucks is 80 miles per hour. For large trucks, the speed limit is 70 miles per hour in the daytime and 65 miles per hour at night.
5Effective July 1, 2006, the posted speed limit on I-85 may be as high as 70 mph.
