Replacing an old off-ramp+signal with a slip ramp

Bottleneck Project: SR 84 to I-595 EB. Traffic coming onto the off ramp from SR 84 onto I-595 EB was constricted by a signalized intersection at the top of the ramp. Heavy left-turning movements (the most time consuming of movements) contributed to delays at this signal, and inevitably, delays back down the ramp. A 16-month project replaced the old ramp+signal function with a direct slip ramp. Now, traffic simply exits at speed onto the slip ramp and is directionally conveyed to I-595. Outstanding cooperation between FDOT and the contractor made this a smooth project and a popular improvement in the region.
