Traffic BottlenecksCombating BottlenecksOhioImplementing Access Management principles will result in a less congested corridor. State Road 125 from Amelia-Olive Branch road to Oak Street, a distance of about 2/3 mile, is a highly developed, commercial corridor that suffers from an overabundance of closely spaced driveways and high volumes. In the WB direction the predominant accident type is rear-ends; in the EB direction the predominant accident type is sideswipes. A 1998 AM study presented recommendations to reduce accidents and improve traffic flow. These recommendations included to install dedicated turn lanes, consolidate driveways, provide some rear service roads for inter-parcel connectivity, and generally improve conditions. The $3.5M project is scheduled for construction in 2009. |
