WASHINGTON: Park and Ride Pricing in Multi-Family Developments
The Park & Ride Pricing in Multi-Family Developments (PRMF) project began in early 2014 to determine how to facilitate transit customer access to excess parking spaces in multi-family developments. Previous King County research determined that a significant number of spaces are available which could be used by potential transit customers who are willing to drive from their homes to locations which have better levels of transit service. PRMF will assess barriers to a priced environment for these excess spaces in order to better utilize existing parking resources and provide access to transit for additional riders.

April – June 2018 Update
The project is currently in implementation with continued property recruitment and marketing as ongoing activities. Property recruitment efforts have resulted in 15 participating locations, with 270 total available spaces. The number of active permits has been stable between 50 and 52 during the first quarter of 2018. Prices range from $33-$174 for a monthly permit. Marketing efforts are ongoing, targeting transit customers through online ads and targeted social media outreach. The project team continues property recruitment efforts, which includes strategic identification of properties, meeting with industry contacts, field scouting of properties to evaluate the potential convenience and safety issues for transit customers, and meeting with individual property owners to discuss the potential inclusion of their property in the pilot.
