Accessibility Statement

The menus and most of the features for the Freight Technology Assessment Tool or FTAT are keyboard accessible to users of assistive technology, such as screen readers. The following explains what these menus are and how to access them using the keyboard. However, some FTAT features are visual tools and may only be accessible to users with a mouse.

FTAT contains menus for four options: File, Edit, View, and Help.

When the application opens, use the ALT key to select the File menu. Use the right arrow key to move to the Edit, View, and Help menus. Use the ENTER key to select each menu.

The File menu contains eight options. To access them, use the down arrow key or type:

  • "N" for New to create a new file
  • "O" for Open to open an existing file
  • "L" for Load Stencil to load a stencil file
  • "S" for Save to save the current file
  • "A" for Save As to save the current file with a new name
  • "P" for Print to print the current file
  • "E" for Export to Excel to export the file to an Excel spreadsheet
  • "X" for Exit to exit the FTAT application

The Edit menu contains ten options. To access them, use the down arrow key or type:

  • "E" for Edit Node to edit the node processes
  • "C" for Connect Deliver to connect deliver route
  • "R" for Connect Return to load a stencil file
  • "T" for Technologies to process technologies. This item has three options. To access them, use the right and down arrow keys. Type:
    • "A" for Add New to add a new node
    • "E" for Edit to edit an existing note
    • "D" for Delete to delete the current file

From the Edit menu, use the down arrow key or type:

  • "C" for Process Costs to export the file to an Excel spreadsheet
  • "M" for Performance Measures to process performance measures for quality function deployment or QFD. This item has three options. To access them, use the right and down arrow keys. Type:
    • "A" for Add New to add a new measurement
    • "E" for Edit to edit an existing measurement
    • "D" for Delete to delete the current file

From the Edit menu, use the down arrow key or type:

  • "P" for Processes to process a category
  • "O" for Cost Drivers to process cost drivers
  • "D" for Delete to delete the current file
  • "A" for Select All to select all entries

The View menu contains seventeen options. To access them, use the down arrow key or type:

  • "U" for Update to update the current file
  • "G" for Geographical Map to view the geographical map
  • "D" for Thread Diagram to view the thread diagram
  • "P" for Performance Measures to view performance measures
  • "R" for Connect Return to load a stencil file
  • "T" for Technologies to process technologies
  • "Q" for QFD to view QFD data
  • "O" for Output Summary to view output summary data
  • "R" for Report to view reports
  • "S" for Stencil to view stencil data
  • "F" for Zoom Fit to zoom to file
  • "I" for Zoom In to zoom in
  • "O" for Zoom Out to zoom out
  • "L" for Toolbar to view toolbar options
  • "B" for Status Bar to view the status bar
  • "V" for Navigation Bar to view the navigation bar
  • "C" for Chart to view the chart

The Help menu contains two options. To access them, use the down arrow key or type:

  • "A" for About to learn about the application
  • "H" for Help to search online help topics
