Trucking prices surged again in June. The producer price index (PPI) rose 0.3% over May. General freight trucking posted a gain of 1.5% in June, taking the year-over year inflation to almost 9%. This gain is driven by long distance services. Extra truck freight capacity is being shifted towards slower intermodal services causing an increase in transportation costs across the board. This trend is expected to remain for the rest of the year. |
