The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) is hoping that through the "Mid-American Arc" project, Asian imports headed for the mid-west can be diverted from California ports to the Port of Savannah. To accomplish this, Garden City terminal would have make several upgrades, including expanding their two rail lines to enable more container throughput. Currently, the Port of Savannah offers two advantages over West Coast ports; lower costs and one terminal, close to major interstates, that can handle all of the goods that come in and out of the port. |
