Description |
Between a quarter and a third of all freight tonnage in the United States originates, passes, or terminates in the Chicago region. Because of this high volume coupled with expected future increases, continual improvements will be needed to the Chicago region's freight system to ensure that Chicago remains one of the most significant freight hubs in the United States. To highlight Chicago's freight system, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) has released a three part series exploring Chicago's freight transportation with focus on Chicago's infrastructure, innovation, and workforce. |
