The Federal Highway Administration awarded $256,470 in grants to reduce delays at U.S border crossings in New York, Michigan, and Washington through FHWA's Border Wait Time Deployment Initiative. New York Department of Transportation (DOT) plans to deploy more detectors to gather additional data and complete the automation of the border wait time system for the entire Buffalo/Niagara Region. The Michigan DOT will improve cloud-based services to make more information available to commercial drivers and passengers traveling through the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel Crossing while the Whatcom Council of Governments will utilize the funds toward loop detectors to improved wait times at the Cascade Gateway Border. |
