American Trucking Associations' (ATA) advance seasonally adjusted For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index saw its greatest increase in two decades in 2018. The index increased 6.6% in 2018, despite a downturn in December. Trucking tonnage serves as a barometer of the U.S. economy representing 70.2% of all domestic freight.
