The purposed of the North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria is to identify critical safety violations and take the vehicle out of service until repairs are made. The new Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance's (CVSA) North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria was ratified on October 31, 2018 and went in to effect on April 1, 2019.
