Focusing on collaborative mapping, Departments of Transportation (DOT) in Utah, Florida, Arizona, Connecticut, and Vermont have provided Mapillary, a hosting platform for street-level imagery, with over 40 million images of roadways from their states. Mapillary processed all of the donated images using "computer vision" and is hosting them free of charge. The DOTs can access the data compilation to examine individual stretches of highway; allowing for roadway analysis without requiring an onsite visit. |
