Starting January 1, 2020, the cargo shipping and cruise line industries will be required to use ultra-low-sulfur diesel. There is concern that the increase in demand for low-sulfur diesel fuel will lead to low supplies. The shipping and trucking industries have been working to develop strategies in the event of fuel shortages. One option is to install scrubber technology to ships to remove pollutants from exhaust to meet the emissions standard instead of using low sulfur fuel. |
