According to Joe DeLorenzo of the US Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, hours-of-service (HOS) compliance improves with ELD use. Throughout 2018 and 2019, the number of driver inspections with at least one HOS violation decreased. However, the number of false logs has not declined. The most common errors found include lack of paper work and issues transferring data. DeLorenzo encourages carriers to continue to train their drivers on the use of ELDs.
