The California Air Resources Board (CARB) plans to announce its nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions rules for heavy trucks sometime this spring, nearly a year ahead of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) 50 state Nox rules. CARB is acting quickly because parts of California must meet federal health-based Ambient Air Quality Standards for ozone by 2031. The new rule would apply to 2024 heavy duty trucks. The EPA is asking stakeholders to comment on whether the EPA should adopt similar rules to CARB. |
