Per Christine Hydock, the chief of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMSCA) medical programs division, FMSCA will begin reviewing the literature and conducting research related to recurrence of seizures in commercial motor vehicle drivers. Currently, drivers that have experienced a seizure are disqualified from driving without an exemption, which can take months to acquire. The agency plans to send their report to the medical review board in September 2021 to determine if the currently policy should be updated. |
