The United States Army Corps of Engineers began a major dredging project in Sloop Channel, near Ocracoke Island, North Carolina; the route is a marine highway and along the route for the passenger and vehicle ferries that connect Ocracoke Island to Hatteras Island. Dredging will allow the return of larger ferries, reducing congestion. |
