A recent economic impact study has revealed that more than 396,000 Louisiana jobs are tied directly to Louisiana's maritime industry resulting in $19.5 billion in personal earnings. One in five jobs within the state of Louisiana are tied to the maritime industry. Additionally, Louisiana's maritime industry generates $289 million in state taxes as well as $228 million in local taxes per year. Furthermore, researchers have identified Louisiana's port system as an enabler for the state's other main industries: oil and gas, transportation, warehousing, agriculture, and manufacturing. |
