For the first time since 1989, a freight train will complete a 30-mile trip from North Creek to the closed Tahawus mines in upstate New York. The intent for this rail line is to begin hauling rock from the mine in 2013. The planned route passes other mining operations and railroad officials expect to secure other freight customers along the route. |
