The United State Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has reported that surface trade between the United States and both Mexico and Canada was recorded at 6.6 percent higher in June 2012 than in June 2011, unadjusted for inflation. This same value was found to have increased 11.4 percent from June 2008 and to have increased 62.8 percent from the end of the recession in June 2009. The BLS defines surface transportation as freight movements by truck, rail, pipeline, mail, and Foreign Trade Zones. |
