Description |
United States Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx has announced a proposal to eliminate a taxing paperwork requirement for commercial truck drivers. Secretary Foxx's proposal would require Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) to be filed only if defects or deficiencies were discovered by or reported to the driver during the day. Currently, DVIRs are filed after each pre- and post-trip inspection regardless of if an issue requiring repairs was found. These eliminations are estimated to reduce industry costs by approximately $1.7 billion a year. |
