In June 2013, the United States Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) launched a pilot program to test technologies and operating procedures to facilitate border crossings from Canada and into the United States. As part of this pilot, the USCBP installed a pre-inspection booth on Canadian soil. Findings from the first phase of this pilot indicate that the concept of pre-inspection is viable, and a second phase is scheduled for the Peace Bridge border crossing in 2014. |
