The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Administrator Joseph Szabo recently presented the current challenges to enhancing rail safety for passenger and freight rail to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation Subcommittee on Surface Transportation and Merchant Marine Infrastructure, Safety, and Security. Among other findings, this presentation noted that the FRA has recorded that fiscal year (FY) 2012 was the safest on record, with preliminary data from FY 2013 indicating it may be safer than 2012. |
