The New York Department of Transportation is preparing to test a deployment of a new over-height detection system at five parkway entrance ramps to decrease the risk of trucks striking bridges that cross the parkway. This system will deploy an infrared beam that when passed by over-height vehicles will trigger an electronic message sign instructing the driver to pull over as well as notify the traffic management center of the event. |
