Integrating the Highway Safety Manual into the Highway Project Development Process

Description:	This new FHWA guide provides examples of opportunities for integrating the AASHTO Highway Safety Manual into the project development process. This includes integrating methods from the Highway Safety Manual into planning, alternatives development and analysis, design, operations, and maintenance. The guide provides a description of each of these steps in the project development process, and then provides a discussion of the methods from the Highway Safety Manual, and in some cases other resources, that support these steps.
